Owner and Artist
Amanda Muto (1978)
I am very passionate about pottery, fabric and COLOR; I love to look at, touch and surround myself with it. I began Earthware to enhance my concentration on these passions, share them with friends, and more importantly, to be at home and cuddle with my children, Anna and Carter. Family is, of course, my first priority, and the support of my husband Brian and our families inspires me.
I have been involved in art since high school and am instilled with a growing interest. I continued to study art in college then became certified to teach art. My career took a bit of a turn when Anna was born in 2005 and my husbands' career moved us to the mid-west. Brian gave me a potters' wheel and a kiln one Christmas and the desire to do something with pottery was born.
Why fabric? So, I stem from a family of quilters, and I hold many fond memories of productive family quilting bee's paired with fine comfort food (and picking snipped threads and scraps of fabric off of knees and bottoms; and then later out of the rotary part of the vacuum). My past, along with my obsession with gorgeous fabric, encourages me to include this medium in my endeavors; I have a lot of work ahead of me to get those projects through the development stage and onto the site (cross your fingers).
Fabric products will be available soon, but for now:
